Help Kenner’s Fire Department

City of Kenner City of Kenner Firefighters

Kenner’s Fire Department Personnel needs your help Kenner’s Fire Department personnel have served our community with dedication, courage, and professionalism. Yet they are caught in the middle of a dispute they did not create and it’s costing them the raises already funded and approved by the City Council. On June 11, 2026, the Council amended the budget to provide a 2% increase for all Fire Department personnel. They passed Resolution B 17517 supporting reinstatement of the raises previously taken away. The funding is in place. The Council did its job. There lies the problem! Raises cannot be fully implemented without approval from Mayor Michael J. Glaser, who has stated he will not authorize the increases for new hires and firefighters with 23 years of service until the lawsuit involving the Kenner Fire Fighters Association Local 1427 is resolved. This has created a stalemate and our firefighters are paying the price. Ultimately this will affect Recruitment, Retention, Morale, Public safety. Meanwhile, the money sits unused, despite being budgeted for this exact purpose. Our Firefighters Deserve Better! No firefighter should lose income because of a disagreement between city leadership and Kenner Fire Fighters Association- Local 1427. No community should risk losing trained, experienced first responders because of avoidable delays. Your Voice Matters! If you believe Kenner’s firefighters deserve the raises already funded by the Council, make your voice heard. Contact Mayor Glaser
