Norman Morales isn’t just a symbol of hope — he’s a powerful example of what diversity brings to this country. Originally from Nicaragua, Norman came to the U.S. and was raised by his mother and grandparents. Now, he’s headed to Yale University on a full scholarship.
His story challenges the headlines that so often define young immigrants from Central America: “illegal,” “gang-affiliated,” “criminal.” While Norman’s immigration status is not the focus, the reality is that it was not overlooked simply because of where they’re from.
Norman shows us what those headlines miss: the brilliance, drive, and promise in our communities.
Norman’s goal? To give back—to uplift others like him who were not born into privilege but came here to make a difference.
This is more than an acceptance letter to Yale. It’s a challenge to the narrative.
Not a threat. A scholar. Not a label. A leader.
